Nepal Airlines Corporation (IATA code RA) as it is known today was originally known as Royal Nepal Airlines. Nepal Airlines is the national flag carrier of Nepal administered by the Nepalese Government. They are also the oldest airline of the country and have been in operation from the 1st July 1958 and have their main operating base in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (IATA KTM). Apart from their existing 8 international flights Nepal Airlines operate a significant domestic network of services. In 2018 as part of a fleet renewal program, Nepal Airlines acquired two Airbus A330-200s. The airline has grand plans of operating to Seoul Incheon, Tokyo and Sydney with these aircraft however they are unlikely to do so given their financial is poor. As Nepal Airlines is heavily in debt due to previous corruption in 2018 they have been working on a turnaround program and a planned reorganization. Online transactions for the airline only commenced in 2017 and now in 2018, they are in talks with Ethiopian Airlines to assist them as a strategic partner.
